Light Maker, 2020
Staying hopeful has been tough through springtime, which ends this weekend with the longest day and Summer Solstice. A cycle ends and rotates into another. On many levels. If the end isn’t clear yet, (The Moon tarot card would be a good visual analogy here) the stones are already being laid, the light is yet to fall and reveal that path.

How I work, in EAST direction I focus on light, the sun, fire energy, spring, hope and courage.

As the past few months progressed I saw how vital it was we worked with opposing directions simultaneously in order to keep us properly balanced. Interestingly, I observed how those naturally unfolded around us.

The opposing direction is of course WEST, being introspection, perseverance, pause, maturity, death, the colour black, autumn, the physical, the body, earth element. Personally, I took my own pause, I fell silent, I tried to work hard on what I need to release and overcome, and what I need to accept and come to terms with. Many of us had little choice in that. WEST energy, representing earth, is grounding: much needed when we're running around in panic, our thoughts falling into unhealthy patterns resulting from instinctive fears. Those of us staying at home sought earth energy – the outdoors and nature to feel better, and ironically, many of us worldwide were, literally, grounded.

These energies will continue: the huge drive 'to do', followed by burn out, combined with the tendency of getting stuck, rooted and unable to adjust. Through 2020, the fire is not out yet, and we have a lot more light to come (in the Solstice), plus a lot more to pause and think about before we can learn to mature and accept and let the wheel move on.

Change is a difficult process for all of us, it helps to be mindful of that when we are choosing to express ourselves and in a heated moment (in fire energy) forgetting to listen respectfully in return.

Where WEST direction helps is remembering through earth energy we can grow and find acceptance and resilience. WEST aspect is where real change happens in the real world – the tangible manifestation of working past blocks and fears. From there we are ready to move forward, into another cycle, into NORTH, into wisdom, higher consciousness and interconnectedness, freedom.

It’s not about turning the wheel to repeat what has gone on before, it’s about getting it to rotate forward and onwards, so that we can KNOW who we truly are.
