Meditating on Oak for strength & what does an abundance of acorns mean?

Have you noticed the abundance of acorns this autumn? They are dropping from local trees like shrapnel when I pass underneath. I've been wondering what this might mean, according to folklore and in spiritual terms other than Mother Earth literally firing at me!
Acorn symbolism is a sign of prosperity and good luck. Well, we could all do with that, yes please!

The sign of oak and acorn is perseverance, which I talked about in my last blog. Oak stands for ancient wisdom, courage, power and survival. Sound familiar? Nature tells us everything we need to know, have I mentioned that before ;)

In Celtic acorn means immortality, fertility and life. I personally feel if you managed to get through the first part of this year, the first wave of COVID and months of lockdown and craziness around, then you've already proved your mettle. You are a hardy oak, my friend. You deserve those acorns, even if they are only seeds yet. Wait, it will come eventually.

I also talked about leaning into uncertainty – I've certainly had to practice that for myself over the past 12 months. The beauty is, when you become oak you are not only a survivor, you can be there for others which is what nature wants, what this planet needs, more of us to be there and do more for others than focus on ourselves all the time. This magnificent King of the Forest has a canopy that shields and protects other trees and what rests in its branches, a system that symbolises health and morale, comfort and solace.

The message is clear: it's tough going but you can do it! Stay strong, hold steady and that good fortune and abundance will come in good time.

Here's a small grounding exercise which I've found really does work:
HOW TO BE 'MORE TREE' & BECOME A MIGHTY OAK!
WHERE?
Preferably outdoors and beneath trees, stand firm and straight or sit upright on a log or bench, feet on the ground. Close your eyes if you can and take slow deep breaths.

BREATHE
Inhale deeply through the nose, and exhale deeply through the mouth. Then with each exhalation imagine any frantic energy or worries you have release in that breath through your body and feet down into the ground, extending from your toes down into the earth. Pay attention to any physical sensations in your body as you do so. Don't try to adjust, merely be aware.

VISUALISE
Visualise those roots beneath your feet spreading far down below, through the earth, as far as you can imagine, on the deep 'out' breath. Sense that energy turn on the 'in' breath and come back up, cleansed, renewed, bringing you back strength and resilience of the earth like a tree root. Pay attention to any sensations you get here too.

PRACTICE OFTEN
Do this a few times, circulating the energy, and sense yourself – your body as a tree trunk – full of grounded, healthy vitality. You may even feel a little rooted, so to speak. As a tree you can face any storm, in a strong wind, or adversity, you will just bend a little. The more often you get grounded, the more resilient you will become.
