MEDIUM & DISPLAYING THE ARTWORK
Original artworks are produced in liquid watercolour and ink (non acrylic). Not all the brands used are lightfast or permanent, therefore works already on sale and seen are not guaranteed. You are welcome to commission originals in lightfast inks or watercolours if you prefer.
For this reason we advise you frame and hang the originals away from direct sunlight and where the work may be affected by humidity or temperature changes. Do not hand above a radiator or fire, or in a bathroom for example. This will protect the pieces in their original condition and keep the paper from warping. In order for you to enjoy living with a piece for many years, we would always recommend this with original artwork, whatever the medium, and whoever the artist!
FRAMES & FRAMING
If required (and at an additional cost to the artwork to include the framing time itself), frames will be chosen to suit the artwork by the artist. The artist will not frame works to suit provided or sourced frames at the buyer’s request but can happily advise on this. In preference we would choose perspex rather than glass for delivery reasons, which should only be polished with a soft cloth to avoid scratching. Generally, frames are the option of the buyer on receipt of artwork but we do highlight how important a suitable frame is in showing a work to its maximum visual impact.
MARGINS, BORDERS, DIMENSIONS
Many artworks do not have borders and therefore can be mounted and/or framed easily with plenty of room for mounts. Those pieces produced with a margin in mind have ‘edges’. The sizes given will be the finished defined artwork area as intended by the artist for maximum visual impact, these pieces will be despatched with mounts ready for framing. If you have queries on this or any dimensions please email email@example.com
Paper surfaces vary and are all Acid Free FSC or handmade cotton rag. The standard is 300gsm/140lbs white watercolour paper. These are primarily textured (cold pressed) or smooth (hot pressed). Where handmade papers are used (such as Khadi rag) this will be explained clearly and evident in the photographs shown (these are off-white in colour, with rough, natural edges and a smooth or textured surface).
Prints where applicable for sale on this website will be on archival quality white paper to enhances the colours and textures of the artwork. Giclee is a high quality inkjet print with lightfast inks so your artwork can last up to 80 years without fading.
Hopefully this exhaustive list (!) answers your questions, if it doesn’t and you have an alternative query, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
